Skip Hire
Cuming Containers are able to hire skips to both Trade and Retail customers within the South Hams Area, including Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Kingswear, Modbury, Salcombe, Totnes etc.. We are able to offer a complete waste management service and are able to advise on and tailor a suitable system to satisfy your individual site requirements.
Skips are available from the small 2 cubic yard through the popular 8 cubic yard to the specialist requirements of enclosed 8 cubic yard skips. Waste placed in skips is categorised in two ways, either Mixed waste, which entitles the hirer to dispose of most items or Inert waste, which is defined as builder’s rubble.

The scale of charges differs depending on the size and type of waste, but our helpful and knowledgeable staff can advise on which skip to specify.
Note that Skip hire prices are for INERT WASTE ONLY. Charges are higher for mixed waste
Skip Hire Tips
Make certain that you get the size of skip right first time. Under estimating your skip can result in extra expense and inconvenience to you if you have to order another one.
If the skip is to be filled with heavy material like bricks or hardcore, the maximum size is 8 cu yards.
For householders correct access and positioning is very important. You need to allow for an 8’6” entrance and at least 12’ length. Most driveways are fine, but you need to remember that lorries are heavy, so make sure the surface is suitable. Let us know of any peculiarities on your site such as tight turns, low branches, drain covers etc. Remember as well to leave enough space for you to load the skip!
If the skip needs to be left on the road then you will require a DCC Highway license. We can obtain these on your behalf within 3 working days. We will need a road plan detailing the position of he skip together with any relevant features such as parking spaces, width of road, yellow lines, junctions etc. It is not permitted to leave skips on verges.
It is important when ordering to specify the type of waste that will be deposited. Bear in mind that certain types of waste such as asbestos and hazardous cannot be accepted. Other items such as Fridges and Freezers, Tyres, Batteries and TV’s can be placed in the skip, but will be individually priced depending on size.
Try and give us at least 24 hours notice of either a skip requirement or an exchange. Remember that skip demand is always higher at the weekend.
A Devon County Council Highway Licence is required for all skips left on the highway. We are happy to obtain these licences if required on receipt of a site address and location map (the cost of a license is £POA). Smaller waste disposal requirements can be catered for by specifying Cuming Container Bulk Bags.
Asbestos only Roll On Off Bins can be provided for large quantities of the material.
